The “Medaka Ricefish School” is a unique hands-on facility in Japan where visitors learn the importance of the natural environment and the wonders of life through the observation of the endangered ricefish and other water creatures.
The array of aquariums display about 30 species of freshwater fish, including the kissing loach and Japanese river perch, which are native to the local Asahi River.
One of the most interesting attractions is the donut-shaped tank for the ricefish.
If you stand in the middle of the tank, you feel like you are in the water with the ricefish.
There is also a display area called “Toys Inn” with about 5,000 toys collected from all over the country. Visitors can try traditional Japanese toys such as the kendama and koma. -
